Manchester & Dudley : we salute you!

Chris @ the 106.1 Rock Radio Party (thanks to Steve Brinkman for this photo)

Our final 2 shows of the year were the 106.1 Rock Radio Official Xmas Party which we headlined last Thursday in Manchester & the Big Bash on Saturday at Dudley JB's, headlined by Blaze Bayley.

A fantastic turnout of our local support in Manchester made for a great night in Manchester & at Dudley, despite truly horrendous snow & ice, a valiant effort by all resulted in an amazing night which made us proud to be metalheads, made even more impressive bearing in mind the rumours & difficulties at that venue which has long since been threatened with closure. As far as we know JB's continues but even if that was the last Big Bash at that venue, it was a fitting, committed & passionate night of metal & a credit to everyone involved.

Watch out for our review of 2010 coming up soon!

8/10 album review in Classic Rock mag

We'd like to thank Dom Lawson for his 8/10 review of our "A Way Of Life" album in the latest issue of Classic Rock magazine....

"Brit metal bruisers bring the bombast.... stylistic sidesteps & fashionable sub-genres may come & go, but the thunderous noise of a balls-out heavy metal band at full pelt remains a thrill undimmed by the passage of time. Increasingly lauded as a gloriously fiery live act, Fury UK are students of metal's old school, & yet there is a sizzling, life-affirming freshness in every second of A Way Of Life.... one of the most exciting British metal albums of recent times"

To read the full review go buy a copy of the December 2010 issue (no.152) of Classic Rock mag at any decent newsagents.

Thank you & a fan review!

The past 4 gigs were again a blast.. Leeds, Newcastle, Carlisle & Grimsby. Thank you so much to those of you at each of these shows, we had a brilliant time & you seemed to as well! Thanks also to our special guests on these 4 shows.. Babylon Fire. You guys rocked & as always it was a real pleasure to be following you onto the stage, knowing that the audience was already in the mood! \m/ A word also for our good friend Mick Ball who at the post-gig party in Grimsby on Sunday managed to break his foot & toe, despite manfully lasting until today to actually go to hospital to get the injuries looked at! A word also for our excellent crew.. drum tech Sager & guitar tech Crazy Mike. You both did a cracking job, were great fun on the tour dates & we will miss you in Derby on Friday at the Old Bell. Thankfully you'll return to look after us at the Helloween Ball on Saturday. Phewwwwww!

We found these fan comments on the Ents24 website regarding the recent Southampton & London shows & were touched by what was written there. Huge thanks to "Mikey from Erith" - sorry but we're not sure if we got to meet you at these gigs Mikey but either way we thank you from the bottom of our hearts for your words....

Event Date: October 14, 2010
Event Venue: The Brook, Southampton

Wow! What an amazing band! This was the first time Id ever seen this 3 piece live, as support to Y&T.
The sound they have is incredible and they play brilliantly up on that stage. Not a note out of tune and full-on raw n' heavy. The singer has a great voice and is visually stunning to watch. His guitar playing is amazing, I looked round to witness everyone in the venue (including the staff) watch his awesome solo's. But that's not all. They have the most catchiest songs to back it up! After this gig I had 'I See Red' and 'Nemesis' stuck in my mind. I thoroughly enjoyed their set and was buzzing to know I have seen this band before they get huge, which on this performance is a certainty.

Event Date: October 16, 2010
Event Venue: 02 Islington, London

Having seen this excellent band once before it was great to see what response they would get from a group of friends that came with me. They agreed, like me, that we'd witnessed a band play who are sure to get massive.
The crowd took to them because they have it all. Great sound, great stage presence, brilliant songs, stunning guitar solo's. The bassist is active too and like the singer, great to watch. The drummer is a real character too, walking on stage hands aloft shouting out loud, stirring up the crowd as he enters the stage first. He pulls it off wonderfully too!!!! The headline act Y&T even said that in 2 years they will be probably supporting them!!! The set they played was brilliant. Starting with the catchy 'I See Red' and ending with 'Death By Lightning'. The crowd gave them a well deserved applause and totally loved this band.

Another live review....

Get Ready To Rock were at the Islington O2 Academy show with Y&T & have written some kind words about us....

"full on, quality traditional British metal.. highly gifted guitarist, ably supported by a rock solid rhythm section.. reminiscent of early Maiden in places.. illustrates why this band have a bright future ahead of them".

Y&T.... there are no words!

Yes, there are no words that properly sum up our tour dates with Y&T but we'll do our best! Massive thanks to the Y&T band first of all.... frontman/lead vocalist/lead guitarist Dave, guitarist/backing vocalist John, drummer/backing vocalist Mike & bassist/backing vocalist Brad (respect & best wishes also to regular bassist Phil who is currently undergoing treatment for cancer, our hearts are also with you Phil & hope that one day our paths will cross). Big thanks also to Y&T's manager Jill & crew members Rolf, Jon & Steve. It was actually Steve that recommended us to Y&T (having seen us at Bristol Academy on the Michael Schenker tour) & we're forever in his debt for that. You are all very very cool people & we salute you!

Massive thanks also to our fans old & new. The support from our existing fans was brilliant, & the new fans & friends gained on this tour has been fantastic too.

The press coverage on this tour has been cool also.... see the recent live reviews so far.... for example by Komodo Rock, Bacon Music, Rockgig Reviews, Mayfair Mallzine. There's a lot of photographs out there from the tour too & we've not yet had chance to catch up with those. Big thanks nevertheless to all photographers, those we have managed to see so far have been ace.

The party at the end of the London show was immense, crazy, emotional & very very drunken. Chris had managed to get himself invited on stage with Y&T towards the end of their set-closer "Forever" & that set the tone for an emotionally-charged ending to this experienec we'll never forget. After that it was back to Y&T's hotel for the madness induced by our good friends Jagermeister, JD & assorted brands of rum! Good times!

Next up is our headline shows across the country, taking in Leeds, Newcastle, Carlisle, Grimsby, Derby, Manchester (Radcliffe), Swindon, Milton Keynes, Brighton, Bathgate, Aberdeen, Glasgow & Birmingham. Full listing at www.furyuk.com

Can't wait to see you out there again \m/

More reviews....

A live review this time by Komodo Rock, this time from the London, Islington O2 Academy show last Saturday with Y&T.. "the place is packed, heads are banging and Fury UK have inevitably gained more fans. The proggy centrepiece followed by an outstanding
lengthy guitar solo in the last song adds something extra to an already fine performance" Read more....

"A Way Of Life" album review by Rockpages in Greece.. "truly a message of happiness for every melodic Metal fan. This is one impressive mixture of Îœaiden/Megadeth/Satriani" Read more....

Latest album review....

Thanks to Komodo Rock for a really cool album review of "A Way Of Life". As well as liking the album we just think they've really intelligently commented on the way the band's developed & understand very well what we're about & where we're up to with things in general....

"In an act of old school hard labour Fury UK unleash their 3rd album 'A Way of Life' when a lot of fans have only recently digested 'VR'. This not only succeeds in keeping the momentum rolling but shows how quickly the band have managed to raise their game since their debut a mere four years before".

Latest review....

"A Way Of Life" album review by James Allman at Bacon Music. We're liking the comments here where James seems to have really understood where we're coming from & what matters to us. Thanks James, this means a lot....

"This band are very proud of their metal roots, and show no shame in wearing their metal influences on their sleeves. The excellent ‘Saviour’ absolutely screams MEGADETH, whilst the catchiest track on the album ‘Show of Force’ would fit nicely on a METALLICA album. ‘Nemesis’ and ‘Athena’ show a good ability to mix up tempos, and seemlesly incorporate excellent time changes. The best song on the album is the magnificent 10 minute epic IRON MAIDEN style composition ‘The Remainder’. All what’s good about this band is nicely represented in this track. Good melodies, interesting lyrics, crunching riffs, and lead guitar wizardry to make you eat your heart out".

Thanks Wakefield & UK Tour begins....

First today we look back on the exciting gig last weekend at the Snooty Fox, Wakefield. What a brilliant turnout, energy & vibe from start to finish. Thanks to everyone at the show & especially those who'd travelled significant distances e.g. Andrew & Tracey Gloster from Coventry area & The Touts from the South West.... 3 & a half hours drive?.... \m/ We also heard there were up to 2,000 people online watching the live video stream. We're lucky enough to have our entire set captured on video which looks & sounds great. That will be hitting the Rocksector Records video channel at Youtube pretty soon & we'll let you know when it's up. This gig was a great buzz for us also as one of the few times so far we've been able to play live several songs from the new album & the setlist was.... I See Red, Fall From Grace, Saviour, Nemesis, Call To Arms, Death By Lightning.

Next it's down to the business of our UK Tour. That begins this Saturday with 8 dates as special guests of America's Y&T, followed by a further 14 shows, almost all of which are headline shows where our setlist in general is expected to be minimum 1 hour. It's a real honour for us to be playing with Y&T as long-standing heroes of ours & who've been making an updated impact with their latest album Facemelter which is just brilliant. Our tour overall takes in these towns/cities.... Manchester, Bradford, Glasgow, Newcastle, Nottingham, Southampton, Birmingham, London, Leeds, Newcastle, Carlisle, Grimsby, Derby, Manchester, Stoke, Swindon, Milton Keynes, Brighton, Bathgate, Aberdeen, Glasgow, Birmingham. We're ready!

We go to Switzerland in December, Belgium in March & are still working on a European Tour. The exact timing of that isn't yet known. It's a possibility for December but if not then, it should be March. More news on this as soon as possible.

If you don't yet have the new album you can get all the links on the sidebar of this blog.... HMV, Amazon, Play, iTunes. Also don't forget the new T-shirts & hoodies are on the merch page at the website www.furyuk.com

Thanks again. See you out there! \m/

Latest album review from Sea Of Tranquility

Another album review through today & some great comments from Dean Pedley, writing for Sea Of Tranquility....

"This is modern metal that harkens back to the NWOBHM.. the six minute "Run Away From No One" &.. "The Remainder" are a good indication at what is still to come from this band – slow burning, well crafted epics that ebb and flow between mood & tempo, unveil more with each repeated listen and are both absolute gems"

The press has arrived!

Several reviews & features now through on the band & the new album. This includes full page features in the current issues of both Big Cheese & Powerplay magazines (Sept.2010 issues). Here's some extracts from all the recent coverage received so far, plus one or two earlier quotes. Big thanks go out to all writers/contributors....

"Jaw droppingly good production.. loud, crisp & beautifully balanced.. riffs & hooks galore.. the clean vocals come into their own during the big choruses.. top notch musicianship.. more than a hint of Megadeth" (A Way Of Life album review. Chris Van Souwe, Powerplay, issue 124/Sept2010)

"Fusing classic rock with a more contemporary edge" (taken from full page feature/interview. Chris Van Souwe, Powerplay, issue 124/Sept2010)

"They create something new & exciting out of what's gone before them, injecting their own fury into their rousing anthems & going for the throat" (taken from full page feature. Big Cheese, issue 126/Sept2010)

"Brilliant riffage.. spectacular vocals.. dynamic hooks & infectious material" (A Way Of Life album review. Andrew Sheppard, Big Cheese, issue 126/Sept2010)

"continue their own brand of hard hitting, classy & intelligent music. NWOBHM brought into the modern era. Vocally & musically Judas Priest spring to mind, such is the class exuded here. Like all the great bands Fury UK seem to have the ability to show their musical influences, yet meld them into their own unique vision. Another power metal masterclass. Intelligent, powerful, technical, melodic & fearless" (A Way Of Life album review. by Dave Evans, Midlands Rocks. Full review HERE)

"a belter of an album and highlights what Fury UK are all about" (A Way Of Life album review. Rob Dodgson, Room Thirteen. Full review HERE)

"Last year, in the Mayfair Mallzine end of year writers poll, I named Fury UK's 'VR' album as my album of the year. Now, just over a year since the release of that album, the band thrust the follow up 'A Way of Life' upon us. Can they possibly reclaim the top album crown again? Well, on the evidence of the material here, the answer is a resounding YES!.. The Dream Theater-esque 'Nemesis' is quite possibly the best track on the album, with a great uplifting chorus" (A Way Of Life album review. Dan Armstrong, Mayfair Mallzine. Full review HERE)

"An absolute winner from start to finish.. with killer riffs, powerful vocals and thunderous drum rolls" (A Way Of Life album review. Jenny Tate, Rhubarb Radio. Full review HERE)

Thank you Bloodstock / additional tour date

Just a quick message to say a huge thank you to those of you supporting us at Bloodstock Open Air Festival last weekend. We loved showcasing the songs from the new album & had an awesome weekend all round. This was our setlist....

I See Red
Alien Skies
Athena
Nemesis
Children Of The Sea (Black Sabbath cover by way of dedication to the late great Ronnie James Dio)

The guys from Big Cheese magazine, Phoenix Radio & Jagermeister took some video footage & a direct line from the mixing desk, so provided everything on that has worked as it should, we hope to be able to post some clips soon. Phoenix will also be broadcasting a special show dedicated to the band & hopefully including parts of this set in their show. More news on that as soon as possible.

See you on tour soon.... by the way, Wakefield show added.. 26th September at the Snooty Fox as special guests of Blaze Bayley. We've both had brilliant nights at the Snooty on separate occasions so together we're expecting something special!

See you out there!

Special thanks to Jim Sharples from Big Cheese, Geno D from Phoenix Radio, Manny who was the sound engineer for Jager & Tom from Jager.

"A Way Of Life" album artwork & track listing revealed

The front cover & track listing for our upcoming 3rd album "A Way Of Life" has been revealed at our website www.furyuk.com

Our thanks to Samantha Evans for her excellent skills on the design of the album cover.

We very much look forward to getting the new album out there from the beginning of September. We're proud of the new record & hope you all like it as much as you seem to like "VR". It's got elements of everything about this band on there really, with 10 tracks & a running time of around 55 minutes. Melody, thrash, progressive, heavy, acoustic & at least a couple of really anthemic choruses on there too. Watch out for more news updates very soon but meantime please check out the updated website.

Thanks, as always.

Thank you SOS Festival

SOS Festival was absolutely amazing for us, we had a brilliant time with all the bands, all topped off by the emotionally-charged tribute to the late Ronnie James Dio on what would have been his birthday. Our version of "Heaven & Hell" from the Dio-era Black Sabbath album of the same name was performed with our usual line-up, plus Blaze Bayley on vocals, Fofi Roussos from 4Bitten on vocals, George Maroulis from 4Bitten on guitar & Rishi Mehta from Babylon Fire on guitar.

Huge thanks to Rocksector Records who put the festival together in association with Scan Computers & of course to the amazing crowd in attendance. \m/

It was also very cool for us to be able to include in our set 4 tracks from the new album "A Way Of Life".... "I See Red", "Fall From Grace", "Saviour" & "Nemesis" were each given an airing. Thanks so much for the awesome response. The album is due out on September 6th & will be available for pre-order from early-mid August at the likes of Play.com, Amazon.co.uk & HMV.com. It'll also be available for download from iTunes from release date.

Luke's stepped in on bass with Blaze Bayley on previous occasions.... Hellfire Festival at Birmingham NEC last year & earlier in 2010 at the Rock Radio Scotland anniversary party at The Garage, Glasgow. This time Chris joins for what will be an even more memorable night.

Update : gigs this Summer

Due to a mix up at the promoter's end of things, we'll no longer be playing Infest, Peterborough on 6th August. We apologise to the people intending to go to that show. The good news is we'll still be returning to Peterborough, as a show there is to be included in our UK tour schedule for October/November. Meanwhile, the shows as listed below remain our focus during the run up to the album release. Thanks. \m/

2 gigs added for September

Very happy to confirm 2 gigs for September :-

We hope to be able to announce our October UK tour dates within the next few weeks.

Meanwhile, work goes on regarding the new album.... all recording finished, we have rough mixes which are sounding awesome & have one day approx during the next couple of weeks to finalise the mix. We think we've found the album title we want & more also to be revealed on that soon.
